Greatest puppet ever March 22, 2007

I have spent a lot of time thinking about who is the greatest puppet ever. I have finally come to a decision. I think it’s Alf.
When I was a kid, I had this cardboard record which I got from Burger King that had songs written by and sung by Alf. One of them was called “Melmac Girls” and had lyrics like
“It’s cool the way they can braid the hair all over their face.”
Genius. Here it is on Ebay.
OK I also found it online. You have to listen to ten minutes of idiocy first but it’s worth it.

On an unrelated note, Feynman said that anyone who says they really understand quantum mechanics, probably doesn’t. I love that, because (using faulty logic) it means I DO understand it, as I don’t have a clue (other than I can do the math).
How’s this for a contest: which puppet could give the best explanation of QM to 10-year-olds?

You’re referring to The Paunch Stevenson Show episode 64. Is it good idiocy or bad idiocy?
Rob: I actually thought it was hilarious. So I would say good. The episode gets funnier near the end. It reminded me of that Simpsons episode where the nerds are criticizing Itchy and Scratchy about bone-xylophone related inconsistencies.
